Using Light

This is my friend and musician, James. We were filming him in First Baptist Church so there was light coming in from the window behind him but the main source of light is the lamp placed next to and a little in front of him. Most of the shot is a little too dark but I think his arm on the guitar catches your attention because it is the most lit.

This was at the Stillwater Blues Festival. There were several different kinds of lighting on the stage and this shot came out really clear and bright. I like the red light in the bottom right corner coming from behind him that creates a subtle shadow on him.Here is James again. The only light here was coming in from the windows and created a shadow on the wall and on the floor. I like its simplicity and balance.
