All of these pictures were taken from a car window, so great detail was not possible. These pictures are not in the original order I intended, but I will explain the best I can.
This is a blocked entrance to the Sayre yard, property of the electric company. Sayre has a work center, which is home to about 200 inmates, many of whom work here. I thought the broken gate was cool.
This is the entrance to the city park right outside of town. The town Gazebo, swimming pool, golf course, and rodeo arena are all located here.
This is the oldest building in town.It is an old motel on the edge of Main Street. It was built in the 1860's and has gone through only minor renovations. It is located on Sayre's historic Route 66 mainstreet and was featured in the movie "The Grapes of Wrath" in the 1930's.
This is the only bar in town and where you can find most everybody on the weekends. This is significant because the first building that ever stood in the town, an old saloon, was in the exact same spot.
This is an old junk yard outside of town. Many young people have found their first car here, making it the most visited car dealership in town. No Joke.
These are two mysterious buildings where just the walls stand. No one knows exactly what happened or why just the walls are standing.
These are pictures from the old tire shop downtown. This was once one of the most prominent businesses in town.
This is the town meeting hall. The Kiwanis club and Chamber of Commerce gather here daily to discuss town issues.
This is the old Stovall theater on the corner downtown. 60 percent of the buildings located on Main Street are considered historical and are there just for looks. This theater, however is being renovated and the town will soon be able to go watch plays put on by "the Mainstreet Players".
This is the current tire shop in town. It has everything from pop and candy to ice and tools. It is also the deer check station. Oh,and did I mention, they also have tires.
This is the old Gazebo in the park. Over 500 weddings have taken place here. I have seriously never been to a church wedding inmy town.
