Age is something that is a fear for many people. We often view age in a negative way but it is something that has the ability to make a person or object even more beautiful and more interesting than youth can.
Wrinkles are something people see in the mirror and get upset from, when you think about it every wrinkle represents a story from your life, the happy times and the difficult times. The circles on the inside of a tree represent how old it is, kind of like wrinkles on a person's face and buildings become more unique with age. The most interesting objects and people are the ones with a story behind them and most of the time, age creates that story.
While working on this project I fell in love with old buildings, and realized aging is not something to fear it is something to look forward to.
This is Joyce Robbins, she is Coach Gundy's secretary and has worked for OSU Football for many years.
Sandra Swank is also a secretary in the Football Office.
Frank Pickel is an Elder at the church I attend, and is also a High School Teacher. His wife Nancy (below) recently won her battle with cancer.
Danny Cavett is Director of the Pastoral Care Department at OU Medical Center as well as a cancer survivor. He and his wife Jeanie (below) lost everything in the May 1999 tornado that hit Moore, Oklahoma.
Vernal (above) and Velma (below) Johnson are my grandparents. They have 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Vernal is a World War 2 Veteran and retired Preacher and he and Velma have been married for 65 years.
This is a tree in the front yard of the home my parents have lived in for 30 years. They planted the tree when they moved in, and after all those years it's more beautiful than ever.
This tree has special meaning as it is the tree that was left standing after the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. The tree is now referred to as "The Survivor Tree," and stands as a symbol of hope.
