Final Project: Movement

Movement is literally defined as a way of moving, the way in which somebody or something moves. The time I spent photographing movement reminded me to stop and appreciate all the things humans can physically do. Movement can also be seen in our natural emotions and reactions to things. It is a view of motion that people don’t normally see, a single frame in the whole fluid motion. Whether it’s physical movement such as dancing or a feeling, such as laughter, movement can be seen everywhere.

Final Project: A Sole Journey.

A journey always will always lead you back home, to the place where you began. Where you took the first step onto the open path of the next chapter. Luckily, you didn't go alone. Comforting you every step of the way was something you slipped on or laced up this morning. Taken for granted?

"One step, two step, three step, four!"

"There's nothing more for us to say, got my mind made up, I'm walking away."

"Oh, no, you can't do that once you start wearin' those shoes."

"Those are your shoes? These are my shoes, we've got issues."

"A woman will give you the blues, she'll have you talkin' to yourself, and wearing out your walkin' shoes."

"Always standing ten toes tall."

"Gator boots with a pimped out Gucci suit."

"I'm stepping out of this old brown shoe, baby, I'm in love with you."

 "Walk this way!"

"Hey, I put some new shoes on, and suddenly everything is right."

"Yeah, Fairies wear boots and you gotta believe me."

"All the other kids with the pumped up kicks."

"Now I gotta cut loose, footloose."

"These boots were made for walking, and that's just what they'll do."

"Funky fresh, and yes cold on my feet. With no shoe string in em', I did not win em'."

"If the shoe fits, wear it."

What moves you?
A strong stride will keep you moving, and a snappy tune will keep your feet on beat. They'll be there to take you on your travels, and they'll be there to write a song about when you've reached your destination. So step to it, keep them dry, and pedicure when needed. We'll be your sole on this journey.

Final Photo Essay: Musical Enlightenment

It is no secret that from the very moment we plug in our headphones and press play on our favorite song, music makes us come alive.  It enables us to unleash a part of ourselves we may have been witholding for ages.  It relieves us of stress, provides entertainment, and bridges the gap between cultures.  Each and every person is different, but I think we can all agree that music is very much a slice of enlightenment that all of mankind seeks.  From rock 'n roll to hip hop, it has molded the path of humanity and inspired many to do great things.

Through this photo essay, I have attempted to capture twelve different people in their 'musical states of enlightenment.'  This is virtually a euphoric state where we have no distraction or fear of judgment from the outside world.  Simply put, it's just them and the music.

This is Ben, a metal-head who is not afraid to scream until his lungs are sore.

Brian, a laid back Indie Rock guitarist just doing his thing.

Craig, a classical enthusiast who thrives on beautiful orchestration and composition.

Esther, a happy-go-lucky pop devotee, never taking life too seriously.

Ian, a hard rock junkie living wild and free.

Jenna, a connoisseur of the finer things, enjoying some jazzy downtempo beats.

Josh, playing along to some soft rock acoustic jams.

Kari, a carefree and easy going country fanatic.

Lily, an upbeat electronic groupie, not afraid of anything.

Sam, dark and misunderstood, an early punk rock freak.

Tyrel, a good ol fashioned red dirt country boy.

Vincent, a skateboarding ska lover, lacks motivation but overflows with imagination.

Final Photo Essay: Summer Falls to Winter

Whether it's the first leaf to fall, or the last leaf hanging on in denial of the briskness in the air, autumn always makes way for winter.

Fall bursts forth with new color. The leaves are dying, but at the same time bringing to life colors we only see once a year for a few short weeks.

Once the final leaves have fallen, nature signals the end of autumn and the start of winter. Plants whither, and white frost replaces green grass.

I wanted to capture these descriptions of nature's transition from autumn to winter with these photographs. My goal was not only to use nature itself to portray this transition, but also for the photographs to have a feeling of transition from warmth to frigidness.
