Final Photo Essay: Summer Falls to Winter

Whether it's the first leaf to fall, or the last leaf hanging on in denial of the briskness in the air, autumn always makes way for winter.

Fall bursts forth with new color. The leaves are dying, but at the same time bringing to life colors we only see once a year for a few short weeks.

Once the final leaves have fallen, nature signals the end of autumn and the start of winter. Plants whither, and white frost replaces green grass.

I wanted to capture these descriptions of nature's transition from autumn to winter with these photographs. My goal was not only to use nature itself to portray this transition, but also for the photographs to have a feeling of transition from warmth to frigidness.
